High Efficiency File Transfer* is a file transfer technology provided commercially from Aspera©. It provides a reliable and faster (up to 1000x standard FTP) data transfer solution. This technology overcomes the challenge of large data set transfers over any Internet Protocol (IP) network, regardless of network conditions and geographic distance. This tool uses standard UDP (User Datagram Protocol), an alternative to TCP where guaranteed delivery is not required. Reliability is achieved in the application layer "FASP©", which retransmits the real packet loss on the channel. The solution provides complete built-in security, precise transfer rate control for guaranteed data delivery times, end-to-end transfer progress reporting, and supports interoperable file and directory transfers. The PO.DAAC offers this new file transfer option to our users. Please follow the steps below to use Aspera©. Step 1: Choose an option: Solaris:
