This directory contains all of the PO.DAAC data that is available via
anonymous FTP. The PO.DAAC also archives and distribures other
data products which are available on tape or CD-ROM. A complete
description of all PO.DAAC holdings is available on the PO.DAAC
homepage, http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov by clicking on "The Data Catalog".
The PO.DAAC Data Catalog may also be obtained on this FTP site in the
/pub/data_catalog directory.
The use of the data sets provided by the PO.DAAC implies an obligation
that proper credit be given to the data source, including the author
of the data set. Should the data obtained from the PO.DAAC be used in
a publication, the PO.DAAC requests the following acknowledgment:
"These data were obtained from the NASA Physical Oceanography
Distributed Active Archive Center at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory,
California Institute of Technology." Any relevant manuals should be
listed in the references section.
This directory (/pub) contains the following:
atmospheric_moisture - a directory containing data, software and
documentation for the atmospheric moisture products such as
cloud liquid water and columnar water vapor from the SSMI.
data_collections - a directory containing data, software and
documentation for products which contain multiple
oceanographic parameters. This directory also contains
updates to the TOGA CD-ROM.
heat_flux - a directory containing data, software and
documentation for the heat flux products from the SSMI and
other instruments.
hydrographic_software - a directory containing hydrographic
software such as Atlast, Imagic and the Power Ocean Atlas.
ocean_wind - a directory containing data, software and
documentation for ocean wind speed, wind vectors, and
sigma-0's from Nimbus-7, Seasat and SSMI. This directory
will also contain the NSCAT data once cal/val is complete.
sea_surface_height - a directory containing altimetry data from
TOPEX/Poseidon.
sea_surface_temperature - a directory containing sea surface
temperature data from the AVHRR.
src - a directory containing source code for the Hierarchical
Data Format (HDF).
IRSAR data has moved to the Alaska Satellite Facility. Researchers
interested in obtaining AIRSAR data should now refer to:
