As detailed in the 12 July 2021 announcement, PO.DAAC has been migrating datasets to the NASA Earthdata Cloud, hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS). On January 31, 2022 at 17:00 UTC, PO.DAAC will be removing PO.DAAC Drive access to the following datasets. They will be available ONLY through our Earthdata Cloud end-points:
- GHRSST Level 2P Global Sea Surface Skin Temperature from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the NASA Aqua satellite (GDS2)
- GHRSST Level 2P Global Sea Surface Skin Temperature from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the NASA Terra satellite (GDS2)
- GHRSST Level 2P OSPO dataset v2.61 from VIIRS on the NOAA-20 satellite (GDS v2)
- GHRSST Level 2P OSPO dataset v2.61 from VIIRS on S-NPP Satellite (GDS v2)
- MetOp-A ASCAT Level 2 Ocean Surface Wind Vectors Optimized for Coastal Ocean
- CYGNSS Level 1 Climate Data Record Version 1.0
- GHRSST Level 2P Global Sea Surface Skin Temperature from the Visible and Infrared Imager/Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi-NPP satellite (GDS2)
- GHRSST Level 2P 1 m Depth Global Sea Surface Temperature from VIIRS on Suomi NPP (GDS2) V1
- GHRSST Level 2P 1 m Depth Global Sea Surface Temperature version 3.0 from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite (GDS2)
What Users Can Expect on January 31, 2022:
- Access to the above listed datasets will no longer be available via PO.DAAC Drive as of 17:00 UTC, January 31, 2022.
- Earthdata Cloud access end-points for the above listed datasets can be found on the respective dataset landing pages under Data Access tab:
- CMR Virtual Directories provides HTTPS endpoint for data browse and download
- Earthdata Search provides search and data access or download capabilities, for both in-cloud and non-cloud workflows.
- An additional CLOUD DATASETS listing page for cloud enabled datasets is available on the PO.DAAC Web Portal under CLOUD DATA, which offers more tool/service integrations
- The Earthdata Cloud data access end-points are also made available on this listing page
- Users will need to create a free Earthdata Login Account in order to download files or access PO.DAAC data through the Earthdata Cloud
- Please read/watch the following materials to help you update your workflow and automated scripts in accessing these cloud data:
- PO.DAAC Data Subscriber Access video - scripted access to PO.DAAC data archived in the Earthdata Cloud
- PO.DAAC Data Subscriber - installation and instructions
