Some more digging- it appears you might be using your email address and not your EDL name in the request.

You should be using pacomet and not your paco at ceam dot es email address.

Can you confirm/verify you are using the appropriate earthdata login username?

It was my mistake. I was confused about the EDL username. As you said I was using my email while I should have been using the username. Once .netrc has been updated with username everything it's running fine.
