CYGNSS Spacecraft/Instrument Sampling Rate Update

Between 21 June 2019 and 2 July 2019, the sampling rate on each of the CYGNSS spacecraft changed from 1Hz to 2Hz, which in effect, resulted in an approximate doubling of the data file sizes starting with the Raw Telemetry (Level 0) and extending to the Level 1 data. This sampling rate change affects all versions of Level 1 CYGNSS data that provided retrievals intersecting this time range.

Below are the precise dates/times for the 2Hz transition, listed in UTC, and separated by the spacecraft flight model (FM) identification number:
FM01: 2019-07-02 19:50:11
FM02: 2019-06-21 13:16:22
FM03: 2019-07-02 17:31:09
FM04: 2019-07-02 18:57:33
FM05: 2019-07-02 16:42:47
FM06: 2019-07-02 18:11:45
FM07: 2019-07-02 19:19:41
FM08: 2019-07-02 20:26:46

The sampling rate on CYGNSS spacecraft flight model (FM) 5 changed from 2Hz to 4Hz starting on 2022-10-10 00:00:20 UTC and will be returning to 2Hz operations on 2022-10-17 00:00:20 UTC. During this period the Raw Telemetry (Level 0) and Level 1 data files for FM05 will be twice as large as they would be during 2Hz operations. This sampling rate change affects all versions of Level 1 CYGNSS data.

A glitch on CYGNSS FM05 caused the previously announced 4Hz sampling rate change to end on 2022-10-14 06:20:25 UTC instead of the originally planned 2022-10-17 00:00:20 UTC. At 2022-10-14 06:20:25 UTC the spacecraft returned to a 2Hz sampling rate.

During this period the Raw Telemetry (Level 0) and Level 1 data files for FM05 will be twice as large as they would be during 2Hz operations. This sampling rate change affects all versions of Level 1 CYGNSS data.
