Aquarius data over Mediterranean

User Question:
I have downloaded some of the daily and monthly netcdf files for sea surface salinity. (Sample filename sss_rc20120102.v4.0cap.nc).

There is no data in the Mediterranean sea in these files (see vis below from Panoply, of January 2014 average data file).

However, I have seen visualizations where it is included (http://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files ... 46-710.jpg).

Could you tell me how to get the complete data set?

The level 3 project data do have data in the Mediterranean.

You can access the netcdf files through:
https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive ... /mapped/V5

Just a word of caution. The Mediterranean data can have issues with land contamination and also what we call radio frequency interference.

I recommend that you look at the validation document:

Just to add... The project data is in hdf5.
You can access the data though the PO. DAAC Live Access Server (LAS), which can be used to visualize and convert to netcdf.

You can access LAS through:
https://podaac-uat.jpl.nasa.gov/las/UI.vm

Under the dataset icon there are several temporal resolutions of the Aquarius Salinity you can choose from.
