How to choose GRACE solutions?

I am trying to use GRACE data to explorer groundwater storage changes. But I don't know which solutions should I choose.
I have known that there exist GRACE Mascon RL06(unit: cm) (https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive ... n/RL06/JPL) and GRACE Level-3 RL06 Land Water-Equivalent-Thickness Surface-Mass Anomaly datasets (unit: m) (URL: https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive ... _mass/RL06). In my opinion, both of datasets represent Water-Equivalent-Thickness. But I compare of them and found their values (the pixel values in the same area) exist big differences. So I was wandering to know why exists the big differences and how to choose of them.

Another question is GRACE Mascon RL06 produced by JPL that exists many bands when I add netcdf data into ArcMap. What time do each band represent?
