What does proximity_confidence mean?

I load an NC file (L2P data) to SEADAS, and I want to choose the data with good quality. But the file of 2016 does not have the variable quality_level (while 2018 has).
So is the bigger proximity_confidence , the better quality?

Hi,

Not sure where you have downloaded the data. I suggest you to get the GHRSST Level-2P MODIS_A SST from PO.DAAC at https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive ... 0/2016/004. This file does contain the quality_level variable. For more information about the dataset, please visit https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/MOD ... 2P-v2019.0.

Let's know if you have more questions.

Best Regards,

Hello!
I downloaded the data from here: https://data.nodc.noaa.gov/ghrsst/L2P/M ... L/2016/004
The data here is different from what you give me. But why?
My directory is ghrsst/L2P/MODIS_A/JPL/2016/004, and yours is GDS2/L2P/MODIS_A/JPL/v2019.0/2016/004.

Hi,

You are looking at the old version of MODIS_A L2P SST datasets. The current version can be found at https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive ... PL/v2019.0. It will also be archived at NOAA site: https://data.nodc.noaa.gov/ghrsst/GDS2/ ... 19.0/2020/. I recommend you to use the v2019.0 version.

Best Regards,

Hi!
But I have downloaded a lot of data of the old version. Can I make a quality judgment on the old version data?

Hi,

You can visit the NASA OBPG site for the SST algorithm description at https://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov/atbd/. I am not sure if it is easy to find what you need. I would suggest you to download the current version of the data, which has much better quality and a lot of improvements.

Hi!
This is the latitude and longitude information of one of the L2P data files.
How are swath data matrices arranged?
I can't find a pattern for how they store data.

Hi,

Could you let me know which program you use to generate the data sheets for the lat and lon data? I have used the Panoply software to visualize the data and values. They look different from yours, see attached images. The data is on the swath coordinates. The sample granule is 20191209020000-JPL-L2P_GHRSST-SSTskin-MODIS_A-D-v02.0-fv01.0.nc, and its size is 2040 x 1354 (pixels). Seems that you have shown the data on the regular lat-lon grid, which is often used for MODIS Level-3 or 4 products. Please let me know if you have more questions.
