User Inquiry:
I see that the will be terminating its data feed in early June. Do you know where I should go to access data beyond that time? ... /GPS-OGDR/

Can you point me in the right direction in terms of accessing the data to begin the process of producing our own altimetry imageries? I have techs on staff that can develop the necessary protocol to do this, but I need to be able to point them in the right direction.

Yes, as you stated, NASA is in process of deprecating the use of the FTP protocol for data and information access; however, PO.DAAC offers PO.DAAC Drive as a robust FTP alternative for browsing and retrieving data at PO.DAAC. Specifically, you can access the files you are interested in at: ... 2/GPS-OGDR

PO.DAAC Drive ( offers file navigation and download through an interface served directly through your browser, and with a familiar look and feel. It also allows users to access data via a command line so that interactions can be easily scripted. Please note that each user must create a NASA Earthdata Login Profile in order to download files. Instructions to register for an Earthdata Login account are available at

For help on using Drive see the PO.DAAC Drive Data Recipes and Help Page (,

Checkout the NASA Earthdata webinar "Goodbye FTP, New Ways to Access NASA's Physical Oceanography Data at PO.DAAC" at to learn how to use Drive, and discover and extract data using other services such as PO.DAAC Web Services
