coordinate projection

coordinate projection

Postby paapu » Tue Jan 14, 2020 4:57 am

Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm for the first time using sea temperature data from

And reading

Question: what projection is used here? What I read from the raw data:
Code: Select all
print("lat data", ds['lat'] )

comment: geolocations inherited from the input data without correction

What does this mean? How should I project to flat surface?

Hi Markus,

The MUR25-JPL-L4-GLOB-v04.2 dataset is mapped to global regular Lat-Lon grid with 0.25 degree resolution. It is 2-D grid without vertical dimension.

Regarding to the comment: geolocations inherited from the input data without correction, it means that the geolocations from the input data are used as is without any modifications. The input data include SSTs from multiple sensors. Not sure if this answer your question.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Best Regards,
