MODIS SST 2014 dataset - differences between HDF and netCDF

I'm writing this mail becuase I want to ask you about a weird phenomenon. For your SST data, both HDF and netCDF format are provided while netCDF files are put in 2014 version. I've noticed that there are some differences between HDF and netCDF over
SST product.

Please see the attached file, which HDF and netCDF figures are showed
respectively. Both images are in the same quality control (sst quality).

For me, it seems that there are more fragments of SST in the HDF format.
And the pixel value SST is also different in both format.

Do you know why?

Thank you for your inquiry.

The differences you show in your plots are probably caused by the improvement in the new version which is in the netCDF format. The old version is going to be retired soon, so please use version v2014.0 dataset.

Does the new version of SST use a different algorithm than the old one
does? If so, does PODAAC provide any support documents relating to it?
