How to mount PO.DAAC Drive on your local computer via OS X

PO.DAAC's WebDAV interface allows you to connect to PO.DAAC as if it were a local drive on your computer. In order to connect with WebDAV, you'll need to use your Earthdata Login username and the WebDAV password that's been assigned to you.

PO.DAAC Drive supports Mac OS X 10.9 and higher.

From the Finder, click Go/Connect to Server, or press ⌘-K.

In the window that appears, enter the following under Server Address: https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive/files

Click Connect.

When prompted to log in, use your Earthdata Login username and WebDAV password.

You can now browse PO.DAAC files with the Finder and copy them to your computer just as you would with a local hard drive. It's best to copy a file to your computer before opening it.

To disconnect, drag the drive into the Trash or right-click it and select Eject.

Hi,
I coult not mount the po.daac drive on my mac (10.13.6). I selected 'registered user' and provided my eosdis login/password. Error is;

"there was a problem connect to the server 'podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov'.

I also tried (and failed) using

Code: Select all
sudo mount_webdav -i  https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive/files /Volumes/po_daac/

No error with the above command, silent fail.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your inquiry.

You will need to use your PO.DAAC Drive API Credentials to login.

Please click on the Drive API Credentials link to find the Drive API password. (Please note that the password is different from the Earthdata Login password)

PO.DAAC,

I can confirm that I am able to log in/mount the PO.DAAC drive on my OS X machine using the PO.DAAC Drive API Credentials.

For future reference, the required 'API Credential' or 'webdav' password can be found here: https://podaac-tools.jpl.nasa.gov/drive/

after logging in via the Earthdata login here: https://urs.earthdata.nasa.gov/home.
