How to extract waveform from SDR Topex/POSEIDON Data

Postby podaac » Thu Apr 14, 2016 1:49 pm

User Question:
I'm doing my post-graduate thesis and need waveform data from SDR T/P. I
tried to extract waveform usng BRAT (Basic Radar Altimetry Toolbox)
software but didn't find altimeter_waveform parameter. Is there any other
way to extract waveform from SDR T/P data?

Thank you for your consideration and cooperation. I look forward to hearing from you.

Reply to User:
You can find the TOPEX/Poseidon SDR data, which contains the waveform data at ftp://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/allData/topex/L1B/altsdr/. There is a matlab reader and documentation folder that describes the data format. The data are flat binary so you will either need to use the reader provided or write your own. The documentation will tell you the size of each of the variables and how they are bit packed.
