The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the Oceans Melting Greenland (OMG) Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) Level 2 (L2) Version 1 dataset. More information regarding OMG is available from the project website and PO.DAAC’s mission webpage.

This dataset provides temperature and salinity measurements collected during OMG field campaigns off the coast of Greenland between July 2015 and April 2020. Research vessels deployed CTD instruments measuring conductivity, temperature, and depth along vertical profiles to map the distribution of warm, salty water responsible for increased melting of Greenland’s coastal glaciers. s. Each vertical profile is provided as a separate file in netCDF-4 format conforming to CF conventions. OMG investigators use these data in conjunction with high-resolution bathymetry (10.5067/OMGEV-MBES1, 10.5067/OMGEV-SBES1) and glacier elevation (10.5067/OMGEV-GLNA1) datasets to quantify the extent to which underwater currents are driving glacial melt through redistribution of warm, salty Atlantic Ocean water to the Greenland coastal region.
