NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California invited the public to its annual Open House on May 18-19 2019. The annual Explore JPL weekend was exciting occasion, with approximately 23,000 visitors in attendance.
At the event, several staff members represented PO.DAAC and showcased PO.DAAC's State of the Ocean (SOTO) visualization capabilities.
Everywhere guests looked, they saw amazing displays, rovers, movies, technology, science exhibits, and they enjoyed the opportunity to speak with the men and women of JPL. Here you can see PO.DAAC Manager, Suresh Vannan interacting with various guests at the PO.DAAC booth!
Visitors were also able to view the Spacecraft Assembly Facility where Mars 2020 components are being assembled, and JPL’s Center of the Universe (Mission Control), a National Historic Landmark that has been capturing data and operating spacecraft for over 50 years.
