We are pleased to announce the release of a fully reprocessed version of the TOPEX/POSEIDON Geophysical Data Record. After an exhaustive examination of all archived information from the TOPEX/POSEIDON mission by NASA and CNES teams, this product has been generated by reprocessing data from the on-board instruments and applying the current GDR-F geophysical models.

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the GRACE-FO Level-3 Monthly LAND/OCEAN Mass anomaly RL06.2 v04 datasets from the Center for Space Research (CSR).

This CSR GRACE-FO RL06.2 data is an updated version of the RL06.1 (DOI: 10.5067/GFOCN-3C614 and 10.5067/GFLND-3C614) Level-3 data products with the inputs of RL06.2 L2 data.

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the GRACE-FO Level-2 Monthly Geopotential Spherical Harmonics RL06.2 dataset from the Center for Space Research (CSR).

This CSR GRACE-FO RL06.2 data is an updated version of the initial GRACE-FO RL06 (DOI: 10.5067/GFL20-MC060) and RL06.1 (DOI: 10.5067/GFL20-MC061) Level-2 data products. 

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the NOAA GHRSST L2P/L3C v2.90 sub-skin SST datasets from the new geostationary satellite, Himawari-9 (H09).

The H09 was launched on 2016-Nov-02 by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), and put on standby until 2022-Dec-13, replacing Himawari-8 (H08) satellite. Both H08 L2P/L3C data are available in PO.DAAC (L2P: https://doi.org/10.5067/GHH08-2PO27; L3C: https://doi.org/10.5067/GHH08-3CO27).

Please note that the PO.DAAC High-level Tool for Interactive Data Extraction (HiTIDE) visualization tool is transitioning to the cloud and will no longer be available at its current URL. The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of new NOAA GHRSST G18/ABI L2P/L3C v2.90 datasets from the new geostationary satellite, GOES-18 (G18).

The G18 was launched on 2022-Mar-01, moved into the official West position @137.0W on 2022-Jun-06, and officially declared operational on 2023-Jan-04. G18 replaces the previous GOES-West satellite, G17.

The S-NPP products (including PO.DAAC VIIRS SST datasets) have been temporarily stopped due to a satellite anomaly starting on 01:56:11 UTC, July 26, 2023. Currently, the satellite is in non-nominal state and the length of outage remains unclear.

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the July 31 release of reprocessed Level 1A (L1A), Level 1B (L1B), and Level 2 (L2) altimetry data from the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich/Jason CS radar altimeter mission. This mission aims to provide high-precision measurements of global sea-level that build upon the extensive record of observations from the previous Jason series altimetry missions. Datasets in this release were processed with the latest Sentinel-6 processing baseline (F08), which has been in use operationally for Non-Time Critical (NTC) datasets generated since February 2023.

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the release of the level 2C version 5.0 near real-time (NRT) SMAP Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) dataset from Remote Sensing Systems (RSS).

The major differences to the standard version 5.0 data product are: (1) the NRT version of the L1B SMAP antenna temperatures is used, (2) the latest 6-hourly 0.25 degree wind speed and direction are used for the ancillary wind speed and direction input, (3) the CMC SST from 2 days earlier is used for the ancillary SST input, (4) the sea-ice mask of the 3-day aggregate RSS AMSR-2 Air-Sea Essential Climate Variables (AS-ECV) data set from 2-days earlier is used for the sea-ice flag, (5) no correction for sea-ice contamination is performed, it is recommended to use only SMAP data that are classified to be within sea-ice zone 0 for open ocean scene and no sea-ice contamination.

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of Level 2 science data products from the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission, which launched in December 2022. SWOT is a joint mission between NASA and CNES that aims to measure ocean surface topography with unprecedented resolution and accuracy, as well as map inland water bodies globally.
