2021-01-08

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the Global Mean Sea Level (GMSL) trend Version 5.0 dataset from the Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) Integrated Multi-Mission Ocean Altimeter Data for Climate Research project. More information about the GMSL dataset is available on the NASA Sea Level website.

JPL SMAP Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) CAP V5.0 Dataset Release

2020-12-11

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the availability of the PI-produced JPL V5.0 SMAP Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) and extreme winds data, which includes Level-2B (L2B) and Level 3 (L3) standard datasets based on the JPL Combined Active-Passive (CAP) algorithm applied to data from the NASA Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) observatory.

CYGNSS Level 1 Full Delay Doppler Map (DDM) Version 3.0 Dataset Release

2020-12-04

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the CYGNSS Level 1 Full Delay Doppler Map (DDM) Version 3.0 dataset from the Delay Doppler Mapping Instrument (DDMI) aboard the CYGNSS satellite constellation. More information about the CYGNSS mission is available on the PO.DAAC CYGNSS mission page.

CYGNSS Level 3 Soil Moisture from UCAR/CU Version 1.0 Dataset Release

2020-11-13

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the CYGNSS Level 3 Soil Moisture Version 1.0, representing the first published land-based geophysical dataset derived from CYGNSS. More information regarding the CYGNSS mission and instrumentation is available from PO.DAAC’s mission webpage.

Error in MODIS Aqua/Terra L2P/L3 SST datasets

2020-11-03

It has been discovered that the MODIS Aqua/Terra Level 2P/Level 3 sea surface temperature (SST) datasets produced since 1 September 2020 have an input error from the MERRA-2 auxiliary dataset used in the SST derivation for the “Refined” SST files.  These files will be reprocessed once the error is more well understood, but in the meantime they should not be used. Forward stream “Quicklook” or “NRT” files which use a different input for the SST derivation are unaffected.

CYGNSS Science Data Record Version 3.0 Datasets Release

2020-10-28

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the CYGNSS Science Data Record (SDR) Version 3.0 datasets. The SDR Version 3.0 collection provides a total of 3 unique datasets, each corresponding to processing levels 1 (L1), 2 (L2) and 3 (L3), respectively. While there is quite a large number of variables and measurement parameters in each dataset, the primary measurement in L1 is the Bistatic Radar Cross Section (BRCS) and in both L2 and L3 it is wind speed (meters per second).

Discontinuation of CYGNSS Ocean Surface Heat Flux SDR V1.0 Data Production

2020-10-26

Due to the recent release of the CYGNSS Ocean Surface Heat Flux Climate Data Record (CDR) v1.0 (DOI: 10.5067/CYGNS-C2H10) dataset producing data at the same latency and frequency as the older Science Data Record (SDR) v1.0 (DOI: 10.5067/CYGNS-L2H10) dataset and ongoing efforts to update the SDR with a newer version, the data provider has decided to cease continuing production of new data for the CYGNSS SDR V1.0 dataset, which will complete the historical processing record of this dataset covering a period from 18 March 2017 to 30 September 2020.

CYGNSS Level 2 Ocean Surface Heat Flux CDR Version 1.0 Dataset Release

2020-10-09

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the CYGNSS Level 2 Ocean Surface Heat Flux Climate Data Record (CDR) Version 1.0. More information regarding the CYGNSS mission and instrumentation is available from PO.DAAC’s mission webpage.

This dataset provides the time-tagged and geolocated ocean surface heat flux parameters with 25 x 25 kilometer footprint resolution from the Delay Doppler Mapping Instrument (DDMI) aboard the CYGNSS satellite constellation.

New PO.DAAC Web Portal Dataset Search and Discovery

2020-10-06

PO.DAAC is continuing its transition towards a web portal that is content centered, data driven, and provides personalized user experiences that are supplemented with efficient search and discovery capabilities.

In this second phase, a user will experience improvements in the PO.DAAC Web Portal Dataset Search and Discovery powered by NASA Earthdata Common Metadata Repository (CMR) including free-text search, faceted search and filtering, and information displayed on the dataset landing pages.
