IPRC/SOEST Optimally Interpolated Sea Surface Salinity (OISSS) Aquarius V5.0 Dataset Released

2018-07-27

The Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) is pleased to announce the availability of the Level 4 optimally interpolated, 0.5 degree, near-global, 7-day sea surface salinity (OISSS) product for version 5.0 of the Aquarius/SAC-D dataset.  OISSS is a principal investigator produced dataset developed at the International Pacific Research Center (IPRC) of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST).  The optimal interpolation

Tellus JPL GRACE and GRACE-FO Mascon RL06.1Mv03 Datasets Release

2023-01-30

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the Tellus JPL GRACE and GRACE-FO Mascon Ocean, Ice, and Hydrology Equivalent Water Height Release 06.1 version 03 (RL06.1Mv03) datasets.

This release includes two JPL Monthly Mascon RL06.1Mv03 datasets and three time series of the Mascon derived sea level changes, which supersede the existing JPL Mascon RL06Mv02 datasets.

Dataset Release of the Pilot Field Campaign Data for the Sub-Mesoscale Ocean Dynamics Experiment (S-MODE) project

2023-01-05

PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the dataset release of the S-MODE Pilot Field Campaign, which provides shipboard, in-situ, and airborne measurements from a variety of instruments and platforms during October 2021. S-MODE is funded by NASA through the Earth Venture Suborbital (EVS-3) program and is testing the hypothesis that submesoscale ocean dynamics, i.e. processes with scales of 1-10 km, make important contributions to vertical exchange of physical, chemical and biological variables in the upper ocean.

PO.DAAC Dataset Migration to Earthdata Cloud in AWS - Phase 4 - 179 AQUARIUS Level 3 Datasets

2022-12-06

PODAAC is pleased to announce that 179 more datasets have completed migration into our new cloud-based archive in NASA’s Earthdata Cloud, which is hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS). Information and tutorials describing how to access these datasets can be found on the Cloud Data Migration Page

New State of the Ocean (SOTO)

2022-12-01

We are pleased to announce that the new State of the Ocean (SOTO) is deployed and operational through a new URL at https://soto.podaac.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/.

This is a part of the transition to the cloud. The new SOTO is powered by NASA EOSDIS Worldview, based on a cloud-native implementation. The current SOTO will be retired and no longer accessible in March or April, 2023. We will provide further notifications.

PO.DAAC Dataset Migration to Earthdata Cloud in AWS - Phase 4 - 11 GHRSST datasets

2022-11-16

PODAAC is pleased to announce that 11 more datasets have completed migration into our new cloud-based archive in NASA’s Earthdata Cloud, which is hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS). Information and tutorials describing how to access these datasets can be found on the Cloud Data Migration Page. Users may also find the PO.DAAC Webinar (August 2021) useful as they begin their journey to using cloud-based data.

Open Data Workshop invitation

2022-11-15

The Submesoscale Ocean Dynamics and Vertical Transport Experiment (S-MODE) is a NASA Earth Venture Suborbital (EVS-3) mission that utilizes research aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art remote sensing instruments, a research vessel, Wave Gliders, Saildrones, and many other in situ assets. These instruments contribute to an unprecedented view of the physics of submesoscale eddies and fronts, and their effects on vertical transport in the upper ocean.

GRACE-FO Level-2 Monthly Geopotential Spherical Harmonics RL06.1 Datasets Release

2022-11-15

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the GRACE-FO (GF) Level-2 Monthly Geopotential Spherical Harmonics RL06.1 datasets from the Project Science Data System teams at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), and Center for Space Research (CSR).

This release includes three GRACE-FO Level-2 RL06.1 datasets, which are updated from the previous RL06 datasets (DOI: 10.5067/GFL20-MC060, 10.5067/GFL20-MJ060, and 10.5067/GFL20-MG060). The RL06.1 uses the updated L1B calibration product (ACX) which is an updated hybrid accelerometer-transplant that uses observations from both the GF1 and GF2 accelerometers to reduce measurement errors.
