We are pleased to announce an update to the PO.DAAC State of the Ocean (SOTO) visualization tool. Version 4.5.0 includes the full dataset record for the GHRSST 0.25deg MUR Sea Surface Temperature v4.2 , as well as version updates to the Sea Surface Height Anomaly v1812, JPL SMAP Sea Surface Salinity v4.3, RSS SMAP Sea Surface Salinity v4, GRACE/GRACE-FO Mascon Equivalent Water Height CRI Filtered Release 06 v2 and MODIS Aqua and Terra Sea Surface Temperature v2019.0.

CYGNSS CDR Version 1.0 Datasets Release

2020-05-22

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the CYGNSS Climate Data Record (CDR) Version 1.0 dataset. The Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS), launched on 15 December 2016, is a NASA Earth System Science Pathfinder Mission that was designed with the purpose to collect the first frequent space-based measurements of surface wind speeds in the inner core of tropical cyclones.

GHRSST NOAA GOES-17 L2P/L3C Version 2.71 and Himawari-8 L2P/L3C Version 2.70 Datasets Release

2020-05-21

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the GHRSST NOAA GOES-17 (G17) L2P/L3C version 2.71 and Himawari-8 (H08) L2P/L3C version 2.70 datasets. GOES-17 is the second satellite in the US NOAA's GOES-R series equipped with Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) sensor identical to GOES-16 satellite. H08 is the 8th of the Himawari geostationary weather satellites operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). Its Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) sensor is almost the same as GOES-17/ABI.

NASA Saildrone Arctic Campaign Dataset Released

2020-05-18

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the availability of the Saildrone Arctic field campaign data. This campaign involved the deployment of a fleet of 5 saildrones, jointly funded by NASA and NOAA, from Dutch Harbor, Alaska, within the Bering and Chukchi Seas to the ice edge and back over a 150-day period from 15 May 2019 to 11 October 2019. Scientific objectives include collecting upper ocean temperature profiles with a full suite of ocean measurements.  The Saildrone Arctic dataset hosted at the PO.DAAC is comprised of 3 data files for each of the two NASA-funded saildrones deployed.

Revitalization of the PO.DAAC Web Portal

2020-05-15

PO.DAAC is transitioning towards a web portal that is content centered, data driven, and provides personalized user experiences that are supplemented with efficient search and discovery capabilities. The first phase of the web portal revitalization is now available showcasing a simplified, modernized design and several improvements towards a content, data-driven user experience. Specifically, a user will experience:

OMG GLISTIN-A Glacial Elevations L3 Version 1 Dataset Release

2020-05-04

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the Oceans Melting Greenland (OMG) OMG GLacier and Land Ice Surface Topography Interferometer Airborne (GLISTIN-A) Glacial Elevations Level 3 (L3) Version 1 dataset. More information regarding OMG is available from its project website and also via PO.DAAC’s mission webpage.

NOAA NCEI GHRSST Level-4 OI-SST v2.1 Dataset Release

2020-04-20

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of the NOAA NCEI GHRSST Level-4 Optimally Interpolated (OI) Sea Surface Temperature (SST) v2.1 dataset. This dataset is produced by NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) and derived from their Optimal Interpolation (OI) algorithm by interpolating and extrapolating SST observations from multiple sources, including the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) satellites and in-situ measurements.

PO.DAAC Webification (W10N) service RETIREMENT: Important Information for Users

2020-04-17

Please be informed that PO.DAAC will no longer be maintaining the PO.DAAC instance of the Webification for Earth Science (also known as w10n-sci: https://podaac-w10n.jpl.nasa.gov). This web service technology was explored at the time as a venue for providing simplified access to PO.DAAC data and metadata via HTTP/HTTPS protocols, and has never graduated from its 'beta' state. Effective April 17, 2020 this service will no longer be available at PO.DAAC.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
