Pre-SWOT Level-4 Hourly MITgcm LLC4320 Native 1/48-degree Grid Oceanographic Version 1.0 Datasets Release

2022-09-06

PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the public release of five additional Pre-SWOT Level-4 numerical simulation Version 1.0 datasets. These datasets contain hourly model outputs subsetted from a global ocean simulation using the MITgeneral circulation model (MITgcm) on a 1/48-degree nominal Lat/Lon-Cap horizontal grid (namely, LLC4320).

SMAP in Safe Mode

2022-08-26

The NASA Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) observatory has entered a safe-mode starting from August 8, 2022 in order to maintain its essential functions but stops science data acquisition. The Project team is investigating the cause of the anomaly and actively working on resuming operations to restart science data acquisition.

NOAA and NAVO S-NPP VIIRS products returned to normal on August 11, 2022

2022-08-19

The S-NPP satellite mission has been recovered from the recent disruption that occurred from July 26, 2022 to August 10, 2022.

All NOAA VIIRS SST data distributions have been restored and are back to normal. The science quality of the VIIRS SST datasets have been validated and will be backfilled to August 11, 2022. Data from July 26 to August 10 remain missing.

VIIRS S-NPP product disruption due to the satellite anomaly from July 26, 2022

2022-08-11

The S-NPP satellite has experienced an anomaly starting from July 26, 2022, and entered into sun point (sun-safe) mode. No science products are available after this date and the missing data cannot be recovered. Data activation activities commenced on August 10, but the science data production remains in test mode.

CYGNSS Level 2 Ocean Surface Heat Flux Science Data Record Version 2.0 Dataset Release

2022-08-04

PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the release of the CYGNSS Level 2 Ocean Surface Heat Flux Science Data Record (SDR) Version 2.0, which provides time-tagged and geolocated ocean surface heat flux parameters with 25x25 kilometer footprint resolution from the Delay Doppler Mapping Instrument (DDMI) aboard the CYGNSS satellite constellation. The reported sample locations are determined by the specular points corresponding to the Delay Doppler Maps (DDMs).

PO.DAAC Dataset Migration to Earthdata Cloud in AWS - OSCAR datasets

2022-08-03

As PO.DAAC continues to migrate its data archive to NASA’s Earthdata Cloud, hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS), we are pleased to announce the addition of 3 new cloud datasets. In an effort to best support the users as they begin transitioning their workflows or data access points to a cloud-based process, PO.DAAC is making the existing datasets from its archive available from and within the Earthdata Cloud as soon as they are available. Information and tutorials about how to access these datasets can be found on the Cloud Data Migration Page.

Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich Reprocessing Updates: Version 2 Completed, Version F Retired

2022-08-01

Reprocessed L1A, L1B and L2 altimetry data from the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich/Jason CS radar altimeter mission were released through the PO.DAAC for the first time on July 28th, 2022. The new releases include Non-Time Critical (NTC) data reprocessed with the latest Sentinel-6 processing baseline (F06). The new datasets are considered Version 2; they replace the corresponding datasets initially released as Version F. Please see the previous release announcement from July 28th for additional information.

Release Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich Reprocessing Datasets

2022-07-28

The PO.DAAC is pleased to announce the release of reprocessed L1A, L1B and L2 altimetry data from the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich/Jason CS radar altimeter mission. This mission aims to provide high-precision measurements of global sea-level that build upon the extensive record of observation from the previous Jason series altimetry missions.
